PLEASE NOTE: The testing listed below is open to all who are interested in becoming a firefighter. However, at the time of hiring all candidates MUST BE qualified to at least an EMT-Basic level (either through the State of Idaho or National Registry). If you do not currently hold an EMT- Basic certification or higher (EMT- Advanced or Paramedic certification) you may still take the entry-level test and CPAT, HOWEVER it will be your responsibility to update your file through Human Resources once an EMT certification has been obtained. This list will be good until our next testing (spring 2009) or the current list has been exhausted, whichever comes first.

Cutoff Date: All applications MUST BE received by Human Resources no later than the close of the business day (5 pm) on Thursday January 8^th in order to test on January 15^th. However, we will continue accepting applications for the next joint testing scheduled for spring 2009.

Test Dates:

Thursday, January 15^th – ALL APLICANTS- The entry level FF exam and CPAT will be conducted.

Friday January 16^th – PARAMEDIC APPLICANTS ONLY- EMS testing (consisting of a written medical test, 2 scenario stations, and a static cardiology station) and oral interviews will be conducted.

ALL Applicants will be notified regarding the time and location of the test site.

The Meridian Fire Department, and in conjunction with the Nampa Fire Department, is accepting applications for the position of Firefighter/Paramedic and Firefighter/EMT. Meridian Fire Department currently has one open Firefighter/Paramedic position available. The Nampa Fire Department currently has no open positions. The purpose of this testing is to fill the immediate need for the Meridian Fire Department, as well as create an eligibility list for both Meridian Fire Department and Nampa Fire Department. That list will be maintained until the next testing date (spring 2009) or until the list is exhausted, whichever comes first. If additional positions become open, the department with that open position will bring back qualified applicants for further specific testing (EMS testing and/or oral interviews).  For the current testing and eligibility list period, applicants for FF/Paramedic must be nationally registered OR Idaho certified as a paramedic at the time of hiring; Applicants for FF/EMT must be nationally registered OR Idaho certified as an EMT at the time of hiring.  Preference will be given to those Paramedics and EMT's who are certified as Firefighter I or higher.
