The City of Meridian Clerks office is a passport application acceptance facility. We accept applications for new passports on behalf of the U.S. Department of State. We process the first portion of your application and then mail it to the U.S. Department of State who will review and finish processing your passport. We accept passport applications by appointment only, Monday through Friday 8:30 am to 3:30 pm. Regular applications are currently being processed within 4-6 weeks of receipt. Expedited applications are being processed within 2-3 weeks of receipt. Detailed information about the application process can be found at www.travel.state.gov. You Must Apply in Person If:

You are applying for your first U.S. passport
You are under age 16
Your previous passport was issued when you were under the age of 16
Your previous U.S. passport was lost, stolen or damaged
Your previous U.S. passport was issued more than 15 years ago
Your name has changed since your U.S. passport was issued and you are unable to legally document your name change

What You Will Need:

U.S. Citizenship:

When applying for a U.S. Passport, you will need to have a certified birth certificate issued by the city, county or state. A certified birth certificate has a registrar's raised, embossed, impressed or multicolored seal, registrar's signature and the date the certificate was filed with the registrar's office. We are not able to accept hospital certificates or birth abstracts.

PASSPORT PHOTOS:

Your passport photo is a vital part of your application. Your photo needs to be in color and taken within the past 6 months. You will need a 2"x2" with a full-face, front view (head should measure between 1 1/8" and 1 3/") with a plain white or off-white background. We recommend you use a professional passport photo service. We are not able to take pictures at our facility.

EVIDENCE OF IDENTITY:

When applying for a U.S. passport, acceptable identification must be presented at the time of application. The form of I.D. used must be valid and bear a picture of the holder. A current driver's license is the best form of I.D. Parents I.D. is used for minors. Anyone under 18 who has their own I.D. but is applying without a parent present must submit written consent from a parent to obtain a passport.

FEES - Adult Passport Book or Passport Card

The passport book fee is $110.00. It must be in check or money order made out to the U.S. Department of State.
The passport card fee is $30.00. You may purchase the card alone or with the passport book. It must be in check or money ordermade out to the U.S. Department of State.
The execution fee is $25.00 in cash,check or money order made out to the City of Meridian. (This is separate from the Passport fee).
Adult passports are valid for 10 years from issue date.

FEES - All Minor Applicants (under 16 years of age) Passport Book or Passport Card

The passport book fee is $80.00. It must be in check or money order made out to the U.S. Department of State.
The passport card fee is $15.00. You may purchase the card alone or with the passport book. It must be in check or money order made out to the U.S. Department of State.
The execution fee is $25.00 in cash,check or money order made out to the City of Meridian (This is separate from the passport fee).
Children’s passports are valid for 5 years from issue date.
